Below are the details as we know them:

STUTTGART-VAIHINGEN, Germany — Special Operations Command Europe announced the deaths of nine Airmen killed in an MC-130H Combat Talon II aircraft crash in Albania March 31, 2005.

The C-130 transport plane crashed in the mountains of southern Albania on March 31st during a joint night exercise. Among the dead was Army Captain Gil C. Williamson of Dike, Texas, near Sulphur Springs. President Alfred Moisiu awarded the nine the Medal of Gratitude posthumously. He cited soldiers’ “sublime act of giving their lives to the service of the military cooperation between Albania and the United States.”
